Don’t Let a Vaccine Shortage Cancel Your Trip

You have your flights booked. Your itinerary is set. You are ready for the trip of a lifetime. But there is one crucial hurdle left: The Yellow Fever Vaccine.

If you have called around to chain pharmacies or general practitioners, you have likely heard the same answer: “We don’t carry it.”

Yellow Fever vaccines are not standard inventory. They are strictly regulated and only available at designated Certified Yellow Fever Vaccination Centers. Because of manufacturing shortages and regulatory hurdles, finding a dose can be the most stressful part of travel planning.

Park Circle Pharmacy is your solution. We are a fully certified center. We maintain stock specifically for travelers heading to high-risk zones in Africa and South America. We can administer your vaccine and issue the required “Yellow Card” (International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis) in a single visit.

What is Yellow Fever and Why is the Vaccine Required?

Yellow fever is a serious viral disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes (specifically the Aedes and Haemagogus species). It is endemic to tropical areas of Africa and Central/South America. The “yellow” in the name refers to the jaundice that affects some patients.

While many cases are mild, severe cases can be devastating, causing internal bleeding, shock, and organ failure. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates there are 200,000 cases of yellow fever and 30,000 deaths globally each year. Because there is no specific cure for the disease once contracted, prevention through vaccination is the only defense.

The “Yellow Card” is Your Ticket In Unlike recommended vaccines (like Flu or Covid), the Yellow Fever vaccine is often legally required for entry.

Many countries in Africa (such as Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, and Côte d’Ivoire) require proof of vaccination for all travelers. Even if you are visiting a country where the risk is low, if you are transiting through a country with yellow fever risk, border agents may demand to see your International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP), commonly known as the “Yellow Card.”

Without this stamped and signed yellow card, you can be denied entry at the border, quarantined, or forced to receive a vaccination on-site under less-than-ideal sanitary conditions. At Park Circle Pharmacy, we provide the official Yellow Card immediately upon vaccination.
